Professor Muhammad Matiur Rahman was born on 3 Poush, 1344 (1938 AD) at his maternal uncle’s house in Char Narina village of Shahjadpur police station in Sirajganj district. His ancestral home is in Char Beltail village of the same upazila. He obtained his MA in Bengali from Dhaka University in 1972. Degree.
During his career he has taught at Siddheswari College and Asian University of Bangladesh. Besides, he has been the editor of various publishing projects. He has a varied role as an organizer. He is the founding president of “Farrukh Academy” in Dhaka and a life member of Bangla Academy.
His published books include Sahitya Kotha (1990), Bhasha O Sahitya (1970), Samaj Sahitya Sanskriti (1971), Mahat Jidar Jibon Kotha (1989), Ibadater Moolbhitti O Tar Tatparya (1990), Farrukh Pratibha (1991), Bangla Sahityer. Dhara (1991), Bangla Language and Historical Language Movement (1992), Ibadat (1993), Mahanabi (s) (1994), Language, Literature and Culture in the Perspective of Islam (1995), Mahanabir (s) Adarsh Samaj (1997), Children’s Story ( 1997), Freedom of Writer (1997), Muslim Heritage in Bengali Literature (2002), Human Rights and Islam (2002), The Dignity of Women in Islam (2004), Parents and Children’s Rights (2004), Rabindranath (2004), On the Beach of Smriti ( 2004). He also edited Farrukh Academy magazine.
